Market

A GEO agency for New York firms that need to be named in AI answers in a crowded market

In New York, ten firms look the same on paper. AI engines pick the few they can verify and quote. We work remotely from Rajasthan, India, to make your firm one of them, and we do the implementation ourselves.

We have no New York office. We work remotely from India and hold calls in your morning, our evening.

New York is not a national market with a zip code attached. It is five boroughs, dozens of neighborhoods, a professional services sector that is among the most competitive anywhere, and a regulatory environment in which law, finance and healthcare ads face specific state rules.

This page is about the metro level. For national work across the United States, see our USA page.

Buyer behaviour

How do New York buyers use AI engines to choose a firm?

New Yorkers ask for narrow answers because the supply is wide. A founder in Brooklyn asks which startup lawyers handle SAFE notes and Delaware incorporation. A Midtown office manager asks which commercial cleaners hold union contracts. A family in Queens asks which pediatric dentists take a given insurance plan and speak Spanish or Mandarin. A finance team in Lower Manhattan asks which fractional CFOs work with Series A software companies.

The qualifiers are neighborhood, borough, language, insurance, union status, building type and deadline. 'Open Saturday', 'near the 4 train', 'rent stabilised building', 'boutique', 'emergency same day'. A site that lists services but ignores those details loses to a page that states them.

We cannot give you a trusted count of New York users of each AI engine and we will not guess. The method is the same everywhere: test your own buyer prompts, see who is named, and find out why. Week one of the GEO Pilot does this across five engines for up to 20 prompts. You can start with the free AI Visibility Checker.

  • Prompts with a borough, neighborhood or transit line
  • Prompts that name an insurance plan, union, license or board
  • Prompts in English plus the second language many of your clients speak
  • Prompts asking for 'best' or 'top rated', which engines answer by citing third party lists

What is different

What is different about New York

Six points that change the plan for a New York site.

Hyperlocal intent

Borough and neighborhood matter more than city. A firm in Staten Island and one in Midtown compete for different prompts. Location pages must be real, not templates.

Dense competition

With many firms offering the same service, engines lean on third party signals: directories, press, bar and board listings, review sources. Your own site is necessary, not enough.

Many languages in one city

Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Bengali and other languages are common in New York communities. Whether to add one is a business decision, scoped separately from the Pilot.

Strict professional advertising

Law, medicine, finance and real estate face state and federal rules. These affect what a firm page may say about results, specialties and testimonials.

Finance and media gravity

Financial services, media, fashion, tech and real estate cluster here, so buyer prompts are often B2B and sophisticated, with questions about regulation and process.

Evening calls for us

New York is 9.5 or 10.5 hours behind India. We meet in your morning, which is our evening.

Law firms

What do New York attorney advertising rules mean for a law firm's pages?

If you are a lawyer, the rules decide the copy before GEO does.

New York's Rules of Professional Conduct regulate lawyer advertising. A guide to Rule 7.1 that we read in October 2026, from a legal marketing firm and therefore a secondary source, summarises these points: ads need the words 'attorney advertising' on the first page, with web pages often carrying it in the footer; computer based communications must be retained for at least one year; paid endorsements and testimonials need disclosure; client names require written consent; and specialist claims are restricted by Rule 7.4. It also notes that Rule 7.3 requires some solicitations to be filed with the attorney disciplinary committee. Check the current rules on the court system site and with your ethics counsel. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice.

In GEO terms, this changes what we recommend. We do not suggest outcome promises, 'guaranteed' language or comparative superiority claims. We do suggest practice area pages that begin with a direct answer, describe the process, name the attorneys with their bar admissions, explain fees in general terms, and carry FAQs that answer real client questions. Case results, if you publish them, need your ethics counsel's approval and disclaimers.

The same cautious drafting applies to other New York professions. Doctors, dentists, financial advisers and real estate brokers each have their own rules. We draft factual copy and your compliance owner approves it.

Other New York rules

Which other New York rules touch content and AI generated assets?

New York enacted a law on synthetic performers in advertising. Law firm summaries we read in October 2026 (Kelley Drye, Cooley) say that ads must conspicuously disclose the use of a synthetic performer, meaning an AI created asset meant to look like a real human, with civil penalties of 1,000 dollars for a first violation and 5,000 for later ones, and an effective date 180 days after enactment. The summaries differ on some details, so check the current text. If your marketing uses AI generated people in video or images, this matters. We do not produce AI generated people for your site.

The broader point is trust. AI engines and buyers alike discount pages that look generated and unverifiable. Named people, real photos, license numbers and dated pages work better than stock imagery. We recommend that bios reflect real staff, that case studies describe real work with permission, and that you do not publish reviews you did not earn.

New York also has state consumer protection law against deceptive practices, and there are federal rules on endorsements and reviews. We do not interpret them for you. We follow a simple principle: every factual claim on a priority page should be true, current and supportable, because an AI engine may repeat it.

Sources

Which sources do AI engines cite for New York queries?

For metro queries, engines often cite a mix. Your own site is one. Others are business profiles, professional directories, bar and board lists, local news and business journals, trade publications, and community discussions. For high value services, they often show a list built from third party roundups.

We separate what you control from what you influence. You control your site, your profiles and your accuracy. You influence press mentions, directory listings and community presence. Digital PR and link building are not part of the Pilot. If you need authority work such as outreach for mentions and placements, the Scale plan includes third party authority work, never guaranteed. Read more in GEO authority building and digital PR for AI citations.

In week one we record which sources are cited for your prompts. That tells us whether the gap is on your site or on the wider web, and we say so plainly in the report.

Process

The GEO Pilot for a New York firm, week by week

  1. 1

    Week 1: baseline and audit

We test up to 20 buyer prompts across five engines, with borough and neighborhood versions. We check crawler access, audit technical and entity signals and record which sources are cited.

  2. 2

    Week 2: technical fixes

We fix robots rules, sitemap, canonicals and structured data, and add llms.txt if useful. We work on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, custom or headless sites.

  3. 3

Week 3: rewrite up to 10 pages

We restructure up to 10 priority pages as answer ready, with direct answers, question headings, FAQs and schema. Regulated copy is conservative and flagged for approval.

  4. 4

    Week 4: retest and roadmap

We rerun the same prompts, hand over a before and after report and a 90 day roadmap. One domain, one language. We never promise rankings, citations or traffic.

Worked example

What would the Pilot change for a Brooklyn immigration law practice?

Example, hypothetical: a four lawyer immigration practice in Brooklyn serves clients in English and Spanish. Its website has a home page, an 'Areas of practice' page with eight bullet points, and a blog last updated in 2021. The footer lacks any attorney advertising label. Prospective clients ask engines 'how long does a green card through marriage take' and 'immigration lawyer Brooklyn Spanish speaking'.

In week one we test those prompts and see engines citing government pages, large directories and a legal information site. We find a crawler block and an attorney page with no admission details. In week two we fix the block, add LegalService and Person markup and place the advertising label as the client's ethics counsel instructs. In week three we write separate pages for family based petitions, asylum and removal defense, each starting with a direct answer, a process outline linked to official sources and an FAQ, with no outcome promises. In week four we retest and report. Spanish pages are scoped separately.

This is a hypothetical walk through, not a client result. No outcome is implied.

Working remotely

How does a GEO agency in India work with a New York client?

We work remotely from Rajasthan, India, and we have no New York office. We deliver through site access, shared documents and calls. Contact is hello@thegrowingai.com, and the usual start is the free AI visibility report on the contact page.

India is 9.5 hours ahead of New York during daylight saving and 10.5 hours ahead in winter. A 9am call in New York is 6:30pm or 7:30pm for us. We hold calls in your morning and send written updates overnight, so you often find progress waiting at the start of your day. For urgent approvals we can work in our early morning, your late evening.

We ask for admin login, staging or a Git repository and you approve changes. We run a small number of Pilots at a time so each one gets senior attention. Our proof is Emtech in Dubai and Sudarshan Stoneix. Neither is in New York and neither is a promise. For the sector view, see GEO for professional services and local GEO.

The problem

Where New York firms lose AI visibility

Boroughs and neighborhoods are missing

The site says 'New York' but never the borough, neighborhood or transit line the buyer typed.

Bios are thin

Attorney or practitioner pages have a photo and a sentence. Engines cannot verify expertise.

Aggressive claims

'Top rated' or 'best results' language that cannot be supported, in a regulated field.

Dated blogs

A blog last updated years ago signals neglect and gives engines stale answers.

Fragmented profiles

The firm name, address or phone differs across site, profiles and directories.

Crawlers blocked

A security plugin or CDN blocks AI crawlers without anyone deciding.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Do you have an office in New York?

No. We work remotely from Rajasthan, India. We serve New York clients through site access, shared documents and calls in your morning, which is our evening.

How much does the GEO Pilot cost?

$999 USD, one time, delivered inside 30 days, done for you. Monthly plans start from $1,500 per month for Growth and from $3,000 per month for Scale, with scope confirmed in writing before work begins.

Can you promise we will be cited by ChatGPT or Google AI Mode?

No. We improve access, structure, clarity and entity signals, then retest the same prompts and report honestly. Engines change often and no one controls their answers.

Do you follow New York attorney advertising rules?

We draft conservative, factual copy and flag items such as outcome language and labels. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. Your ethics counsel approves final copy.

Do I need a page for every borough or neighborhood?

Only where you have a real office, team, license or distinct service. Template pages that swap a place name rarely help. We decide the right set in week one.

How is this different from your USA page?

The USA page covers national work. This page covers metro level issues: neighborhood prompts, dense competition, language mix and New York professional rules.

Can you add Spanish or Chinese pages?

The Pilot covers one domain and one language. A second language is scoped separately or covered by the Scale plan, with native review of every page.

Which website platforms can you work on?

WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, custom code and headless sites. You give access through an admin login, staging or a Git repository.

How can I see where I stand first?

Use the free AI Visibility Checker or request the free AI visibility report on the contact page. We prepare it by hand and reply within one working day.
