Build your schema
Your JSON LD appears here.
Only mark up facts that are visible on the page. Test the result in the Schema Markup Validator before you publish.
How to use it
Where to place the markup and how to check it
Add the output once on your home page or on a page that clearly describes the business, such as About. Most WordPress and Shopify setups let you paste a script in the head or use an SEO plugin field. If a plugin already prints Organization data, do not add a second copy: duplicate and conflicting markup is worse than none.
Use the most specific type that is honest. A dental practice can use Dentist, a law firm can use LegalService, a shop with a street front can use Store. If none fits, Organization or LocalBusiness is fine.
Test the result in the Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org and in Google Rich Results Test for supported types. Then check that every fact in the markup also appears on the page. Our guide to schema markup for AI search explains what it can and cannot do, and the FAQ schema generator covers question pages.
Good habits
Keep the markup honest
Match the page
Only mark up what visitors can see. Hidden claims can break trust and guidelines.
Match your profiles
Use the same name, address and phone as your Google Business Profile and main listings.
Keep it current
Update markup when you move, rename or change hours. Old data confuses engines.
FAQ
Schema generator questions
Will schema make ChatGPT or Google AI name my business?
No. Schema does not guarantee a citation or a ranking. It helps engines understand your business facts. Visibility still depends on access, content and third party mentions.
Which type should I choose?
Choose the most specific type that matches how you operate. If you are unsure, start with Organization, or LocalBusiness if customers visit or you serve a defined area.
Is JSON LD better than other formats?
Google recommends JSON LD for structured data in its documentation, and it is easier to maintain because it sits apart from your visible HTML.
Can you add this for me?
Yes. Schema and technical fixes are part of the Week 2 work in the GEO Pilot.
